The University of Louisiana at Monroe is always looking for ways to better serve the region through the programs it offers.  The ULM department of Toxicology is adding a new concentration in food science specific to the agricultural industry in the region and state.

Food science plays an important role in maintaining the nation’s food supply by ensuring agricultural productivity and food safety. This field strives to improve food and food safety for the general public.   
 
With the new Toxicology concentration students will learn food safety as it relates to presence and potential harmful effects of chemicals in food.
 
With the new concentration ULM needed an expert in this field. ULM welcomes Dr. Dinesh Babu to its campus.
 
Dr. Dinesh Babu said “I am excited about the opportunity at ULM mainly because it allows me to work on connecting my research interests between food safety, toxicology and human health benefits from pharmaceuticals. I am looking forward to collaborate with majority of the research faculty at the toxicology and pharmacy departments working on these areas. “
