In 2005, the Government Accountability Office found that the price of textbooks over the last twenty years had risen at twice the rate of inflation. That finding brought pressure on both the publishers of college textbooks and the university bookstores that sell them. The University Bookstore on the ULM campus is leading a national trend by announcing a new textbook rental program, Rent Everything. Mike Trevathan, coordinator of Auxiliary Enterprises at ULM, explains that the program is designed to lower the cost of textbooks for students while also promoting the value of renting locally to ensure students are getting the correct textbooks.

It's been a big year for the ULM School of Nursing. After moving back in to a completely renovated building late last summer while celebrating 50 years of educating nurses in northeast Louisiana, the program recently received a full ten-year accreditation by the Collegiate Council on Nursing Accreditation. Dr. Emily Doughty, interim director of the School of Nursing at ULM says the full accreditation is a high mark that proves the university is an outstanding place to receive traning in nursing.
