A far-reaching initiative at the University of Louisiana at Monroe looks to focus resources on helping the community of Lake Providence. The program works to identify the needs in the area and give empower residents with the skills and training to meet them.   Lake Providence and ULM Center for Success, or Synchronous University and Community Capacity-building, Education, and Social Strategization.

Head of Social Work Dr. Pamela Saulsberry and Biedenharn Endowed Chair of Gerentology Dr. Karen Kopera-Frye performed the initial assessment in order to collect data necessary to apply for a rural health grant, but also to begin work for future grant proposals.
