Throughout the year, college athletes strive for excellence on the field or on the court. But long after the roar of the crowd fades away, college athletics is also about academics.

The University of Louisiana at Monroe had high marks on the most recent Academic Progress Rate report from the N-C-double-A. It measures the academic eligibility, retention, and graduation of student-athletes. Fourteen of the 16 ULM athletic programs improved their already high scores from the year before.

ULM Athletic Director Bobby Staub explains what that means for ULM Athletics and how it reflects positively on the university at large.
