Physical fitness is an ever-increasing pursuit of Americans. From gym memberships to home video programs, many are working to live healthier, longer lives by staying in shape. Dr. Lisa Colvin is a professor of Kinesiology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She’s just received her Level 4 licensure with the USA Swimming and the American Swimming Coaches Association.

Only 8% of all coaches in the United States have Level 4 designation.

With her Level 4 licensure she gives back to her community as much as the university. She helps frequently at LA GOLD which is a program that helps swimmers at all levels to learn/ improve their skills. It is located at Oxford Natatorium on ULM’s campus. For more information visit here.

She also helps out at Lakeshore Gymnastics Academy as an exercise physiologist.

Colvin is helping to plan an endurance weekend in downtown Monroe. The committee is hoping to have a triathlon and an aqua bike event.

She educates local schools on living a healthy life style. Colvin strives to educate the students on physical fitness and wellness. She hopes that the kids can bring those teachings home to their parents.
