A public conversation on economic development Tuesday night in Ruston brought an array of questions from local business owners and community members.  Guest panelists included (pictured from left) Ruston City Councilman Jedd Lewis, former President of Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Scott Terry, and Louisiana Tech Economics Professor Dr. John Francis.

A portion of the discussion focused on a long-term planning initiative for the city called Ruston 21.  Several audience members asked about zoning regulations in the plan and their concern over some ordinances affecting business properties.  The plan, cited by Terry as a living document, can be revised by city administration.  The conversation also addressed restaurant locations, the accessibility of roadways, and the potential of manufacturing and retail jobs for the area.
