For many professionals, continuing education is a part of staying abreast of the latest developments in the field. The University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Department of Dental Hygiene is hosting a series of dental seminars that will ultimately benefit dental patients in the area.

These seminars are for dentist, hygienists, and staff to help fulfill their continuing education hours. This provides a local opportunity for these professionals to keep up to date on their education.
This also allows them to achieve the hours without any out of town expense.

Beverly Jarrell, head of the department of Dental Hygiene at ULM, says that dental professionals who are up to date on the latest information offer the greatest benefit to patients.

There are three seminars each having a different guest speaker. The first on January 18 had  Michael Glick talking about Oral Health Care Providers and what they can do for patients overall health. He also discussed treatment protocols for the medically complex patient. Next on February 8 Dr. Henry Gremillion will speak on Temporomandibular disorders, and orofacial pain. Finally on March 15 Dr. Kimberly Daxon and Joanne Schultz will discuss how to identify signs of occlusal instability relating to patients symptoms and periodontal disease.
