The Chautauqua Nexus is a local exchange of ideas. Begun more than a decade ago by a group of faculty at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, the regular discussions were designed to inspire intellectual creativity.

The Chautauqua Nexus provides enriching learning experiences by hosting inspiring guest speakers, performances, and art exhibitions.

The goal of the Nexus is to make Monroe a center of cultural and intellectual exchange.
McGahan said, “Downtown Monroe is already witnessing a movement, and the Nexus can benefit from while adding to the excitement as well.”

In addition to the opening event on March 5, the Nexus program hopes to provide a variety of events in the future.

On March 12, Michael Echols, Director of Business Development at Affinity Health Group and Vantage Health Plan, will present his speech, “Downtown Revitalization.”

This event will take place at 7 p.m. at The Palace, located at 220 DeSiard St.
