 ULM Offers Business Seminars

Duggins
Business owners are known for their ability to focus. That focus on the business can sometime keep them from developing their skills as a manager or leader. This summer, the University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Business Administration’s  is offering a series of bite-sized workshops – all free of charge --that can provide continuing education for local business owners and their staff.
Susan Duggins, the executive director of the Northeast Louisiana Business and Community Development Center, says the workshops are an easy way for employers to help keep staff up to date.

History Professor Contributes to Civil War Commemoration
Jones
This year, the United States commemorates the sesquicentennial of the Civil War. One hundred and fifty years after the war began, historians are still gaining insight on the lives of Americans on both sides of the war between the states. ULM’s professor of history Terry Jones is highlighting Louisiana’s contributions. He’ll be writing two articles for the New York Times as well as a monthly column in the Monroe News Star throughout the period during which the war was fought.
Dr. Jones says that although this anniversary will not be recognized as widely as the centennial, it is no less likely to yield discovery of fascinating facts about the conflict.
