Across the country the 5K run for charity has growing competition from more extreme events. These days, distance events often include obstacle courses featuring mud pits, and wire-walking, and wall-climbing.
 
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Student Government Association is working with the City of Monroe to hold the 2nd Annual Warhawk Dash on September 15 to promote healthy lifestyles and raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.
 
Hall
According to Assistant Dean for Student Life and Leadership Nathan Hall, several people who participated last year saw how fun it was and asked to help out this year.
 
The dash will be held Saturday, Sept. 15 at 8 a.m., with registration starting at 7 a.m. at the old Selman Field Golf Course on Kansas Lane in Monroe.Early registration is currently underway and is $25 until Sept. 13. Race day registration is $35.
